Roadside Mowing Notice

RM of Buckland – Roadside Mowing Notice

A heads-up to producers who have been seeding crops into the road ditches:

This year, RM mowers will be cutting back at least one mower width (approximately 14–16 feet) along all RM roads, and potentially more in some areas. This means that any crop planted in the ditch will be mowed.

To avoid wasting seed, we strongly encourage you not to seed within this area.

This decision has been made for several important reasons:

  • Improved road safety with better line of sight
  • Protection of ditch slopes, which can degrade over time when cropped
  • Proper drainage, as soil buildup can plug culverts and reduce the road’s ability to shed water from the crown

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

If you notice areas along the roads that could benefit from grass seeding to help control weeds, please contact the RM office.
